A GPA fit for a king and queen only happens once a year.
Each year the school’s top academic students compete against one another for the title of Prom king and queen.
Senior King nominees included Christopher Ritter, Dylan Brown, Jorge Aguilar, Nicholas Caton and Fredy Ugalde.
Queen nominees included Cristina Tenorio,Amanda Landaverde, Joanna Areizaga, Lilliana Diaz and Vanessa Garcia.
After a week of campaigning and dress-up days, all congratulations are given to Prom King, Nicholas Caton and Prom Queen, Joanna Areizaga who were crowned May 7 at the Grand Hotel in Long Beach.
“I felt very grateful and it was a great way to end my four years here at Arlington,” said Caton.
The title of Prom King and Queen is something everyone of that class will remember.
“Being named prom queen made me feel proud of what I’ve accomplished. Being on the prom court was a way to get recognized for my academic success and being named prom queen meant my fellow students recognized that. I was very grateful and proud,” said Areizaga.
Since the graduating class of 2015, AHS has added an additional two students to make it in the top 12 compared to the original top 10.
This is a night to remember especially if you will be remembered as this year’s winner.
“It was a great experience and a memory I will cherish always,” said Areizaga.
